Todd Okuhara - Crew Chief

Todd Okuhara has been building racecars since his childhood. Born and raised in Hawaii, where Okuhara’s father owned a Machine Shop, he spent much of his high school days re-building engines.

The training began to pay off in 1993, when Okuhara relocated from Hawaii to build short blocks and do cylinder heads for Roland Leong. Since then, Okuhara has paved his way to his own success in drag racing. He moved over to work for Don “The Snake Prudhomme in 1994, for ‘Snake’s Final Strike’ tour. He continued in Top Fuel from ’95-96 working on Larry Dixon’s crew. He made the transition to the Funny Car class in 1998, tuning for Ron Capps as an assistant Crew Chief. Okuhara remained with Prudhomme Racing until mid-season 2005, when he joined Don Schumacher Racing, to be assistant crew chief for Whit Bazemore’s Matco Tools Funny Car.

He was named crew chief of the Matco Tools Iron Eagle Dodge Charger mid-spring of 2006, and notched his first career win as a crew chief in July at the Schuck's Auto Supply NHRA Nationals in Seattle.
