(Nov. 16, 2008) - Gary Scelzi survived and enjoyed an emotional time at the NHRA Finals this weekend as he bid farewell - for a while at least - to his loyal and supportive NHRA fans and competitors as he prepared to step away from the sport to spend more time with family and the family business in Fresno, Calif.

POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2008) - Four-time NHRA world champion Gary Scelzi is on a high this weekend. Not only is he being swamped by well-wishing fans and supporters as he prepares to step away from the sport for an undetermined duration, he's pumped by the performance of the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car he drives for Don Schumacher Racing.

FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2008) - This weekend's NHRA Finals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona (Calif.) will also be Gary Scelzi's last national event as a competitor in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series...at least for now. Scelzi, who entered his first pro race in 1997 and has driven the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car for Don Schumacher Racing since 2003, will be stepping down to tend to the family business and his family following this race. But he won't say he is retiring from the sport in which he's captured four world championships and 37 national-event wins in 58 final rounds as one of the most popular racers on the circuit.

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 2, 2008) - Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driver Gary Scelzi came out on the losing end of a HEMI vs. HEMI duel today, bowing out to fellow Mopar-powered driver Melanie Troxel in the first round of eliminations at the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 1, 2008) - Gary Scelzi qualified the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car in No. 10 for the eighth annual Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the penultimate round of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2008) - As the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series comes down to its two final events before he steps away from competition for an undetermined duration, Gary Scelzi plans to mix business with pleasure at this weekend's eighth annual Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The season finale will be in Pomona, Calif., Nov. 13-16.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Oct. 23, 2008) - As the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series winds down, along with the Countdown to 1 playoffs for the class championship contenders, the Don Schumacher Racing driver entourage will participate in numerous activities in Las Vegas in advance of next weekend's Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the penultimate event of the year.

DINWIDDIE, Va. (Oct. 12, 2008) - Gary Scelzi was eliminated in the opening round of eliminations today at the third annual Virginia NHRA Nationals, losing his match-up against Melanie Troxel. Scelzi posted a 4.106-second pass at 295.21 mph to Troxel's winning 4.064/305.91.

DINWIDDIE, Va. (Oct. 11, 2008) - Gary Scelzi continues to enjoy driving the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car in these last remaining races of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The four-time NHRA champion qualified it in No. 13 for this weekend's third annual Virginia NHRA Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park, the first of the final three events of the year.
